Integrated Lifestyle Commuting

This is a great video of Ryan Leech, a professional trials rider for NORCO, talking about how he integrates cycling into his lifestyle. It’s something I try to do and the benefits are easily overlooked. I save time by not having to carve out training into a busy schedule. I save money that would go to car maintenance, gas, parking, insurance, and vehicle purchase. I arrive to and from work with a clear mind. I am making an overt action against reliance on fossil fuels and global warming.
In this well made video Ryan is seen commuting around his hometown running errands while significant benefits of commuting are splashed on screen. He is a successful pro cyclist but what he is doing in this video is no different from what you or I can do on a bike everyday. It makes great sense and it feels good. Hats off to Ryan and Team NORCO for making this video. It certainly was fun to watch and know that I am on the same wavelength with a hardcore pro.
Integrating bicycling into your daily life is easy for me. I have done it in places that were not considered ‘bicycle friendly’ as well as climates that were not ideal 6 months out of the year. If you are able to do it it pays off in so many positive ways outside of the money you save. I am really lucky to be in a climate where 50 degrees is considered winter weather, but one of the reasons I moved to my current locale was to foster more time on the bike. Kind of selfish in a generous way.
